Information about the Swindon Recital Series 2025-2026 for possible sponsors/supporters
The SWINDON RECITAL SERIES is proud to present a season of professional chamber music events, featuring the sumptuous and melodic music of Johannes Brahms. Paul Turner (Artistic Director) has attracted some of the best soloists from around the country to entertain you with a unique live music experience in the heart of Swindon.
We have over 30 years’ experience of promoting classical music in the town, and at a time when many arts organisations have been wiped out by the economic climate. Concerts are usually held between September and April, typically 6/7 spread between the Arts Centre for weekend/evening concerts, and the Wyvern Theatre for Wednesday lunchtime events.
We are a Registered Charity (108848), so by law, we have a committee including Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. A ‘Friends’ organisation helps to bring in more revenue on top of ticket sales.
Programmes are varied by having a range of instruments and singers in various combinations covering music from 17th Century to the present day, including first performances, commissioned works and education projects. Series are often themed, either with a featured composer (Brahms in ‘25/’26) or with a stylistic or national bias, such as ‘French Impressions’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsodies’ or ‘Modernist Classics’. Artists of all generations are approached, with established and those relatively new to the profession performing side by side. As well as musical prowess, their ability to communicate with an audience is paramount in the relatively small Swindon theatres, making each event unique and personal.
SRS produces its own publicity material including a website, series brochure, posters, newsletters, mail and email targeted lists and social media. In addition, the Wyvern Theatre and Arts Centre produces a brochure, which is distributed three times a year (45,000 printed), as well as a website which carries more thorough information about each event.
In addition, we are planning a performance of the Brahms ‘German Requiem’ on Good Friday at Christ Church, which coincides with the anniversary of Brahms’ death. We will be offering local choral singers the opportunity to work alongside professional pianists and soloists in a beautiful acoustic, as an uplifting and fitting way to complete our exploration of Brahms’ exciting music.
