Joy Farrall

Joy Farrall – clarinet

Paul Turner – piano

Wednesday 1st November 2023

Wyvern Theatre @ 1:05 pm

Joy’s beautiful programme includes two of the great French works for clarinet and piano in Debussy’s stunning Première Rhapsody, full of heavenly, impressionistic harmonies, and Poulenc’s great Sonata with its haunting melodic lines, ironic humour and drama. There are two female composers in Decruck and Tailleferre and the sonata by Saint-Saëns to give us a balanced and rounded programme.

Joy has a diverse and fascinatingly eclectic career currently holding the position of Principal Clarinet with the Britten Sinfonia. She has freelanced with most of the UK’s major orchestras and chamber orchestras and as an enthusiastic chamber musician she has appeared at music societies and festivals all over Britain, Europe, America and Australia.
